Independent Power Producer (“IPP”)

Mudajaya Group Berhad (“Mudajaya” or the “Company”) through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Mudajaya Corporation Berhad has ventured into the Indian power sector by taking a 26% stake in RKM Powergen Private Limited (“RKM Powergen”), the special purpose vehicle undertaking a 1,440MW coal fired IPP Project in the State of Chhattisgarh, India comprising four generating units with a nominal capacity of 360MW each.

RKM Powergen has entered into Power Purchase Agreement (“PPA”) with the Chhattisgarh State Electricity Board for the purchase of electricity from the IPP Project for a period of 20 years commencing from the commercial operations date of the first generating unit.

In addition to the above, RKM Powergen has also entered into another PPA with PTC India Limited (“PTC”) for the supply of 700 MW round-the-clock contracted electric power output for a period of twelve (12) years from the commercial operation date of the Phase 2 of the IPP Project.

Mudajaya’s 60%-owned subsidiary Special Universal Sdn Bhd, operates a 10MW solar energy power farm, located at Gebeng, Pahang. The solar power plant has commenced commercial operations and contributes positively to the Group’s earnings and net assets.

The concession period for the 10MW Solar Energy Power Farm is for 21 years as per the Renewable Energy Power Purchase Agreements signed with Tenaga Nasional Berhad. 

Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning (“EPCC”)

Apart from constructing, operating and owning its own IPP Project in India, Mudajaya has also embarked on the provision of design, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and operations and management (“O&M”) services.

The Company has the relevant expertise and experience to conduct feasibility studies, conceptual design work, detailed engineering, construction, commissioning, the supply and installation of equipment for power plants namely the Power Island which consists of the boiler, turbine and generator and Balance of Plant (“BOP”) up to emission and effluent control systems.

Mudajaya has established strategic alliances with global specialists to ensure timely and cost effective delivery of quality equipment and materials. It is currently engaged in the procurement of various types of equipment for delivery to its own IPP Project in India.

The Company has been accredited with an ISO 9001:2000 certification and is also pursuing EMS 14001 and 18000 OHSA certifications. Mudajaya has been involved in power plant construction since 1972 and has a track record for successful and timely completion of projects.

Mudajaya can effectively manage project and construction risks and streamline deliveries to ensure that projects are completed within budget and on schedule. The Company is also a total solutions provider and can optimise existing power plants through retrofits, upgrades and/or conversions.
